You Are More Than a Conqueror: Walking in Victory, and Power

by | Jun 11, 2025 | My Candid Advise

A conqueror is someone who has defeated and won a battle—declared victorious over the other opponent.

So, it’s impossible to be qualified as a conqueror when you haven’t fought and won any battle. In essence, there has to be a battle and an opponent.

In Christianity, we are made to understand that we’re in a battlefield here on Earth, if it weren’t so, God won’t address us as His battle-axe! However, even before we engage in the battle, we have been declared more than a conqueror.

But, how are we more than a conqueror?

In other words, we being more than a conqueror doesn’t stem from our knowledge or strength but from a higher authority who loves us.

It’s no other person but Jesus Christ.

He  loved us so much and gave His life for us. Hence, it’s only through Him we are more than a conqueror.

We must realize the sacrifice that Christ made by offering Himself for us. This means, when we engage in the battles of life we don’t appear on our own. In contrast, we appear with Christ Jesus in us— when our opponent beholds us in battle, they see Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, we are not fighting against physical flesh and blood, that’s what differentiates our battle from that of the world. As such, this battle isn’t fought using physical weapons like arrows, bows, guns, bombs, or swords.

That’s why we must effectively engage His name on the battlefield. Hear what more than a conqueror verses like Philippians 2:10-11 has for you:

“That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.

In other words, the name of Jesus is one of the effective weapons we can employ to defeat our opposition and remain victorious; because we are more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ.

However, the opponent we’re fighting against isn’t always the adversary (Satan).

Sometimes, it could be an illness or disease that isn’t responding to treatment, it could be a salvation prayer for a loved one who isn’t saved, an attack on your finances, marriage, job, career, or ministry.

You must realize that whatever isn’t in alignment with the promises of God for your life is declared an opponent and must be defeated through the name of Jesus.

Therefore, It’s fruitless and a waste of time solving these kinds of problems through physical strategy because they’re backed up by a negative spirit. Hence, we need to engage in something more powerful—the name of Jesus!

To the effective utilization of the name of Jesus, we need to engage the weapon of prayers which works wonders in the spiritual realm in solving issues in the physical realm.

Instead of crying, complaining, or submitting to the solution of humans, choose to go on your knees in prayer.

Hear what more than a conqueror verses like 2 Corinthians 10:4 says to  you:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds”

The above verse tells us that our weapons of warfare aren’t physical. There is a spiritual weapon with the backing of God’s power to overthrow and destroy strongholds.

One of them is called the weapon of prayer!

Beloved, the victory attached to the use of prayer can’t be overemphasized, we can change things in our favor through prayers. Hence, you’re more than a conqueror by engaging in prayers.

Prayer is a believer’s power against the storms of life, that is why we’re urged to pray always without ceasing. We don’t have to wait until we are attacked to begin praying, amazingly we can begin praying to prevent future unpleasant occurrences.

Furthermore, being more than a conqueror is a mindset we must put on as a believer, a solid state of conviction that even amidst the battle we’re convinced that in the end, we will surely be victorious.

You Are More Than a Conqueror Through the Weapon of the Word

You’re more than a conqueror by engaging the Word of God fit for every situation you find yourself in. The word of God is powerful and it’s an essential weapon of war that can be utilized for victory.

Some years ago, I was diagnosed to have a stomach ulcer. This implies, I have to stay glued to food and won’t be able to fast again. Upon hearing the news, my spirit was stirred up and I replied, “I don’t have a stomach ulcer and can’t have a stomach ulcer, by the stripes of Jesus I was healed over 2000 years ago when He died on the cross for me.”

I couldn’t believe I just said that, but that was what I was supposed to do. I left believing I was already more than a conqueror over that sickness.

So, while my friends encouraged me to keep on taking the drugs, I always choose to declare the Word of God over my health. And to the amazement of all, I was healed and began engaging more in fasting than ever.

This implies, you can use the Word of God to combat whatever oppositions confronting you!

However, you need to know what is written in the Bible to use the right scripture for the right battle. Hence, become committed to studying the word of God daily.

Hear what more than a conqueror verses like Hebrews 4:12 says to  you:

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

I’m sure you’re familiar with the story about the fall of the wall of Jericho in the days of Joshua leading the Children of Israel to their promised Land (Joshua 6).

The wall of Jericho appeared to be an opposition to their journey into the promised Land.

Having sought the face of the Lord, they were instructed to go round the wall seven times and on the seventh day, they should blow their trumpets, with dancing and shouting.

Surprisingly, the wall came crumbling down as they engaged the weapon of praise. Similarly, we can combat our opponent by putting praise to work in our lives.
